3 Things New Grads Can Learn From CRM
With graduation right on the horizon, new grads can use all of the advice they can get. I think about CRM and social media a lot, and I realized that a lot of the lessons I’ve learned from them carry over into real life. I particularly remember how scary it was to go off to college, so these tips are aimed at the Class of 2009:
- Relationships are #1. Customers are the lifeblood of a business just as friends and family are the fuel for your soul. And just as companies are finding that these relationships are key to surviving recession, grads will find that when they are short on money in the dorm room, good times with friends will help see them through.
- Technology helps! It is often said that CRM isn’t a technology, it’s a strategy — but boy, does the technology help make it happen! You don’t need SageCRM or Salesforce to manage your parents or BFF, but Facebook (the CRM for friends!), Skype and IM can keep you in constant contact with those you care most about.
- Garbage in garbage out. In life, as in data, you can’t expect a quality outcome if you don’t have quality inputs. Whether it’s food or emotions, be kind to yourself and you’ll yield the best results.
