Google Jamboard: A Cloud-Connected Whiteboard

Update: On September 28, 2023, Google announced it would be winding down the Jamboard feature of Google Workspace in 2024.

Google has released Jamboard, the first hardware component of Google Workspace.

Jamboard can be viewed as a digital whiteboard that’s sharable, in real-time, across multiple locations. It has a 55-inch 4K touchscreen.

Drawings, or ‘jams,’ are automatically saved to Google Drive for later access and editing.

Handwritten text is automatically converted to typed text for better readability. Similarly, hand-drawn shapes are converted to digitally generated shapes.

Website content can be clipped, moved anywhere on the board, and annotated.

Google Jamboard entered general availability in the U.S. in May 2017 at a price of $4,999 plus a $600 annual management and support fee. According to Google, for orders placed before September 30, 2017, $300 will be taken off of the annual management and support fee. There will also be a discount on the optional rolling stand, which lists for $1,199.
